Learn About the Different Types of Braces

When you first think of braces, you probably think of shiny wires and metal brackets. But you have options! At Post Falls Orthodontics, we offer several types of braces to match your style and needs!

Types of Braces

Traditional Metal Braces

Metal braces are used for their durable and practical treatment process. Today’s braces are smaller and more comfortable than ever before. Some patients find not having to remove an appliance, brush and replace into your mouth is a great option.  Time slips away each day and sometimes the appliances are not worn the prescribed amount of hours due to eating, snacking, and a busy schedule.

Gold and Rose Gold Braces

Gold and rose gold braces work the same as traditional metal braces but they look different and fun! Gold and rose gold braces are designed to straighten your teeth just as effectively and efficiently as metal, just with a flair of fun!

Clear Braces

Clear braces, or ceramic braces, are made with clear or tooth-colored materials that blend in with the natural color of the teeth. Since they are less noticeable than traditional metal braces, they are a popular choice with adults and teens who are self-conscious about their appearance. Many also find clear braces to be more comfortable than traditional metal braces. The brackets are smaller and smoother, which reduces the likelihood of irritation to your gums and cheeks.

Clear Aligners

If you are looking for a more subtle option to align your smile, clear Invisalign® aligners are less visible than traditional braces. Invisalign consists of a series of aligners. During your visit, Dr. Wilson will help you determine whether Invisalign is a suitable option for you.

FAQs

How much will braces cost? Are financing options available? How does my insurance work?

We can only determine treatment costs after your initial consultation is completed, as each patient’s case is unique. You can learn more about our Financing & Insurance policies on our website, or speak to one of our staff members at the office. We’ll review your financing options with you, and will work with you to maximize your insurance benefits.

Will I need to have teeth extract for braces?
It depends on your unique situation, but sometimes in order to achieve optimal results, teeth may need to be removed. However, advanced technology and methods have made this less common.
Can I wear braces even though I have crowns and missing teeth?
Yes, absolutely! A tooth will a crown will move just like a regular tooth, and treatment will aid in the alignment of the remaining teeth.
Do braces hurt?
Braces or Invisalign don’t “hurt,” but for the first couple days you may feel some slight discomfort. When there is soreness, Motrin or Advil (ibuprofen) can help ease the discomfort.
Can I return to school the day I receive my braces?
Absolutely. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to return to your normal daily life.
